MSMTA Senior Scholarship Recital Guidelines

The Senior Scholarship Recital honors high school seniors who have taken lessons for all 4 years of high school. They are featured in a recital where they receive a $100 scholarship award in recognition of their dedication to music study.

Guidelines:
  • Senior students must be studying with a current MSMTA member, whom they have been with for at least the last 2 years of high school study.
  • Students studying any musical instrument are eligible to apply.
  • Students must play on the Senior Scholarship Recital to receive the $100 award.
  • Seniors may play up to 8 minutes of standard music literature. Time limits may be adjusted depending on the number of entries.
  • Memory is encouraged but is left to the discretion of the teacher.
  • Repertoire should be late intermediate level or higher.
  • High school juniors are invited to play one piece, time permitting. While they will not receive a monetary award, they will have the opportunity to perform, and to be inspired to apply for the scholarship in their senior year.
  • Performers are to dress in concert attire.
  • Teachers are expected to attend and will be recognized along with their students at the end of the program.
  • Students may invite their families and friends.
  • While there is no admission charge, donations to the scholarship fund will be accepted.
  • All attendees are to follow the MSMTA Program Etiquette Guidelines.
