MSMTA Music Camp Scholarship Guidelines

(Download a PDF copy of the MSMTA Music Camp Scholarship Guidelines)

Our goal is to encourage students musically and to assist them financially toward a more serious study of music by attendance at a summer music camp. These are partial scholarships dependent on the cost of the camp involved, our budgetary constraints, and the number of students applying.

To be considered for this scholarship, a prospective recipient must:

  1. Be a student of a Mid-State MTA member in good standing and be performing at a late intermediate level or higher.
  2. Have studied with an active MSMTA teacher (who has attended a meeting and/or volunteered to work on an activity in the past 12 months) for the entire school year during which the application is made, and participated in at least one MSMTA event in the past 12 months.
  3. Submit letters of recommendation from the private teacher and the school music teacher, if applicable.
  4.  Submit a photocopy of the report card showing grades for the present school   year.
  5. Write an essay briefly describing why you are applying for this scholarship. Include a brief statement of future plans and goals.
  6. Submit the completed application form to Vice-President of Student Activities, postmarked no later than May 15 each year.
  7. Scholarships will be awarded by the end of May, payable to the camp.
  8. Recipient is expected to write a thank you note to MSMTA, to submit a summary of experiences (written, computer-based, or in person) and hopefully to perform at an MSMTA event the following year.
