ARTICLE I – NAME
The name of this organization shall be known as MID-STATE MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION.
ARTICLE II - OBJECT
The object of the Association shall be:
Section 1. The advancement of musical knowledge and education through workshops and discussions;
Section 2. The encouragement of teachers to continually strive for higher standards of teaching through the use of effective and current methods and materials;
Section 3. The cultivation of fraternal relationships among members of the profession;
Section 4. The provision of opportunities for student participation.
ARTICLE III- MEMBERSHIP
Members of this Association shall be members in good standing of the Florida State Music Teachers Association and the Music Teachers National Association.
ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS
The elected officers of the Association shall be: President, 1st Vice President/Student Activities Chairman, 2nd Vice-President/Membership Chairman, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, 1st Board Member (in charge of publicity) and 2nd Board Member (Newsletter Editor). If necessary, these offices may be consolidated.
ARTICLE V - MEETINGS
There shall be at least three (3) business meetings per year, including the annual meeting to be held in the spring. Additional meetings may be called by the President or five members. The presence of one-fourth of those members qualified to vote shall constitute a quorum.
ARTICLE VI – EXECUTIVE BOARD
Section 1. The elected officers shall constitute the Executive Board.
Section 2. The two (2) preceding presidents of the Association shall automatically become Directors of the Association.
Section 3. The duties of the Directors are to be advisory, particularly to the incoming Executive Board.
Section 4. The Executive Board shall be charged with the planning and promotion of the Association, subject to the approval of the membership at large, and shall carry out such other duties as prescribed in the Bylaws.
ARTICLE VII – AMENDMENTS
This constitution may be amended at any regular session, prior to notice having been given to each member at least thirty (30) days prior to voting.
