Program Etiquette Guidelines

Preparation Guidelines
  • Once a performer is scheduled to perform on a program, it is his or her responsibility to be present and punctual. Performers should arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start of the program and check in with the program chair.
  • Performers should bring their music.
    • Please write First and Last names on all music and have all measures numbered. 
    • Leave your music in your seat unless otherwise directed by specific event guidelines.
  • Performers should wear concert attire: Dresses, skirts, or dress pants for girls; Dress pants and a buttoned-down shirt for boys. No jeans or shorts are permitted.
 
Performance Guidelines
  • Approach and leave the bench from the front of the stage. Do not walk around the back of the bench.
  • Before you begin, find the pedals, adjust the bench, or adjust the music rack if needed.
  • When finished playing, please acknowledge the audience with a smile and a bow. Please bow only at the end of your performance.
 
Audience Guidelines
  • Performer, family and friends are welcome in the audience should refrain from talking, whispering, and walking around during the performance.
  • Everyone is to remain seated for the entire performance, unless a small child needs to be taken out.
  • Do not enter or exit through the doors while a student is performing. It is very noisy and distracting to the performers.
  • Flash photography is allowed only at the end of the program.
  • All cell phones and electronic devices should be silenced or turned off during the performance.
  • Eating and drinking is prohibited in the auditorium.
